Pittsburg’s US Steel facility has been part of the city for more than a century, and its presence looms large in planning for the city’s future.

The property also presents unique opportunities for future development. The site offers:

  • Around 3.6 million square feet of existing heavy industrial manufacturing facilities and related infrastructure;

  • A deep water port with a 33-foot draft and potential for a 35-foot draft;

  • Two Class 1 rail carriers, with mainlines for BNSF and Union Pacific; and

  • Direct access to Highway 4 and easy access to the Bay Area and the Port of Oakland.

Developed on the site of a former golf course, Pittsburg Technology Park comprises three individual parcels totaling 76.38 acres. The first phase of this project will be a new, state-of-the-art 340,000 square foot data center that will help fuel the rapidly growing AI and digital industry. The park is well positioned for future industrial development with:

  • Competitive power rates,

  • Access to low-latency connectivity options, and

  • Flexible zoning that allows advanced manufacturing and other modern industrial uses.

Pittsburg residents have opportunities to continue their education after high school and local employers have a partner in workforce development with Los Medanos College. This well-regarded community college operates on a 120-acre campus in Pittsburg and offers more than 90 transfer and career-technical programs to help students prepare for the next step in their personal or career journey.

The school has a well-earned reputation for its work in process technology. Initially developed in connection with the oil industry, the school has more recently expanded its work in this area to support a broad range of manufacturing industries.
