Where to eat in the Region of Murcia

The Region of Murcia has a very rich and varied gastronomy that reflects the influences of the civilizations that have passed through it.

Its vegetables and fruits stand out (it is called the Europe's orchard). Also, we can enjoy fish and shellfish from its seas (bream, mullet or prawns from the Mar Menor, among others along with the typical salted dishes made from fish), as well as its meats, mainly pork and lamb.

In addition, there is a unique variety of pig, the Chato Murciano, and of lamb, the Segureño Lamb.

It has 8 Protected Designations of Origin (PDO):

  • Calasparra rice.
  • Murcian paprika
  • Cheeses: PDO Murcia Cheese and DOP Murcia Cheese with Wine.
  • Wines: PDO Bullas, PDO Jumilla and PDO Yecla.
  • Jumilla pear.

The Finca Buenavista restaurant is located in El Palmar (Murcia) and is led by chef Pablo González. It is the only restaurant that has TWO Michelin Stars in the Region of Murcia.

The place is designed as an African-style cabin with large gardens on the slopes of the Valle Natural Park.

It has a modern and evolutionary cuisine, although it also offers traditional dishes, all of them based on natural products from the Region.


Magoga is a restaurant located in the centre of Cartagena and led by chef María Gómez García. It offers traditional cuisine with modern touches and based on seasonal products from the area, taking advantage of its location next to the Mediterranean Sea and the Mar Menor, as well as fruit and vegetables from Campo de Cartagena.

In 2019 he was awarded ONE Michelin star that recognises its good work.


The Almo restaurant is located in the centre of the city of Murcia and offers cuisine based on traditional gastronomic culture enriched with influences from other cuisines resulting from the different flavors that chef Juan Guillamón has known throughout the world.

As a result of good work, in 2022 he was awarded ONE Michelin star.


The Odeón restaurant is led by Nazario Cano’s chef and it is located on the outskirts of the municipality of Murcia in the ODISEO leisure centre.

It offers products from the Murcian orchard and local tradition from a current and creative point of view through two menus. In 2020 he was awarded ONE Michelin star.


The Juan Mari restaurant is a family business located in San Pedro del Pinatar, near Las Salinas and the town centre, which offers traditional local cuisine. They serve abundant portions and seasonal vegetables. Fish dishes direct from the fish market and its rice dishes stand out.

It is led by chef Juan Mari and it has the Bib Gourmand distinction from the Michelin Guide, which certifies quality cuisine at a moderate price.


The Malvasía restaurant, owned by Pedro Montiel as sommelier and head chef José Fuentes, is located next to the Mar Menor, in Playa Honda. It is a cosy restaurant with an aesthetic related to the world of wine that offers signature Mediterranean cuisine and has a select wine cellar. The menu is renewed every three or four months since they work with seasonal products.

The Alborada restaurant is located in the heart of the city of Murcia. It is led by chef David Muñoz and offers traditional Mediterranean cuisine made with the best seasonal products.

The Perro Limón restaurant is located in the San Andrés neighborhood in Murcia, very close to the city centre. It offers family service and cuisine with influences from other countries.
