Career Enrichment Center CEC is a magnet school offering APS-approved classes to students enrolled in other APS traditional and charter schools. Students take their core classes at their home high school and may take elective classes at CEC. Students may select courses in Medicine, Film, Computer Science, Science, Engineering, Business, Languages, and Trades. CEC also offers internship classes and is the only APS high school that offers Chinese and Japanese language classes, Cosmetology, and has a nationally accredited LPN Program.

CCHS is an APS school located on the Central New Mexico Community College (CNM) campus. Students enrolled here dual graduate, earning a high school diploma and a college degree or certificate simultaneously. The cost of this school is free, with CNM paying the student’s college tuition and registration fees for high school students.

The Early College Academy (ECA) is a college-prep magnet high school and sister school to the Career Enrichment Center. Classes are offered to 200 students in a small school environment and are scheduled in the morning so that students may take CEC, or dual-credit UNM or CNM classes in the afternoon.

A full-time virtual school for students in grades 9-12 that also offers classes for credit recovery and advancement. Through instruction via a combination of online learning and face-to-face instruction, eCADEMY prepares students to transition into a rigorous college environment. They also provide a fully-online distance education program called AdultED, where students 18 can earn APS credits toward their high school diploma.

Garfield serves children grade 6-8, emphasizing the subjects of science, technology, engineering and math. Sixth-graders work with robotics in a state-of the-art technology lab while seventh-graders work with specialized software to develop new and original computer applications. Every student develops a personal website and submits work electronically using the Google Classroom platform. Garfield participates in the college prep programs, AVID and MESA.

Hayes serves children grades 6-8. They emphasize project-based learning with a focus on STEM subjects: science, technology, engineering and math. They also offer a dual-language program and the AVID program, an elective course that helps prepare students for college.

Part of the Leadership Schools Network, ACE is a public school for students grades 9-12 that is focused on hands-on projects from the Architecture, Construction, and Engineering (ACE) industries to build leaders. ACE Leadership opened in August of 2010 in partnership with the Associated General Contractors and eleven other industry partners.

A public charter school located on the University of New Mexico campus, this school is ranked as New Mexico’s #1 charter school by Niche, and is ranked as one of the highest performing schools in the state. Students here enroll concurrently at UNM during their junior year, and begin working on their college education while earning their high school diploma. It is ranked as one of the highest performing schools in the state.

DATA is a tuition-free charter school serving students grades 9-12. Students earn a full high school diploma while also having the opportunity to earn college credits, and have access to cutting-edge technology and close ties with CNM’s technical programs. Elective programs are designed to prepare students for the rigors of collegiate technical courses, and include Architecture, Animation, PC Repair/IT, and Graphic Design, to name a few.

Their curriculum is designed around project-based teaching that aims to develop future leaders and prepares their students for college or a career in the technology field upon graduation. Students explore the technology, startup, and business professions by engaging in collaborative work within in a small, supportive, school environment.

Part of the Leadership Schools Network, Siembra is a free, entrepreneurship-focused, public charter high school that gives students access to relevant real-world projects through hands-on learning. Students are given the opportunity to start their own business or nonprofit organization while they prepare for college.
