The Fox Project
The fox has special meaning for Ponca City. E.W. Marland (Marland Mansion, Grand Home, Marland Oil, etc....) brought foxes to Ponca City for his friends and business associates to participate in fox hunting. Over the past 100 years the community has looked at the unique animals as an identifier for Ponca City; a fun and foxy mascot. Descendants of the original foxes still can be seen throughout the city limits and beyond.
City Arts created the Fox Project to promote the appreciation and education of the visual arts in our community. Artists have the opportunity to showcase their art in a unique way, collaborating with sponsors and businesses on themes and colors for each fox statue. A special thank you to these sponsors for supporting monetarily and creatively this fox art project here in Ponca City.
